This is the sad but true story of Elmo James
Brothers and Sisters hear me you'lll gasp

Born and raised in the backwoods
Barefoot on the farm
The hammer of life it's heavy
You looked up and your Pa is gone
The floors that your mother scrubbed
Each day at the big farm house
Didn't earn her enough money
To feed nine hungry mouths

So you did your best to help your mother
No time for books and school
But the outside world looks upon you
As an uneducated fool

Elmo James
It don't matter from where you came
Life goes on the same
Whose to blame
Oh Elmo James

Elmo James
Just living your life in shame
But the world don't change
Because of pain
Oh oh Elmo James

You left your home for the city
With hopes of fortune and wealth
You got locked down in the ghetto
No chance of helping yourself
So you turn to false stimulations
To forget your needs and wants
And the only job you can afford
Is the job that nobody else wants

Your heart is filled with self pity
You feel that you all alone
You got a wife two kids and a broken down shack
But you hard to go back home

Elmo James
It don't matter from where you came
Life goes on the same
Whose to blame
Oh Elmo James

Elmo James
Living your life in shame
But the world don't change
Because of pain
Oh oh Elmo James

Woah
You met a man and you robbed him
To buy food for your family
The judge didn't understand why
Now your in penetentiory
the graveyards that surround you
Significant of your life
Worried about some no good guy
Running off with your wife

You'll be out in a year in two
Please Elmo when you do
Make them children go to school
So they won't end up like you

Elmo James
It don't matter from where you came
Life goes on the same
Whose to blame
Oh Elmo James

Elmo James
Just living your life in shame
But the world don't change
Because of pain
Oh oh Elmo James

Elmo James
It don't matter from where you came
Life goes on the same.........
